more work from spring semester 2011

so her is sommo work from my illustration 2 class. this was a project that started with a double page spread for a children's book of a fairy tale and ended with that book's cover. i chose to do the russian tale called Peter and the Wolf, which ended up being weird because it is actually sort of an old russian musical and is hard to find good reference on. anyway my teacher wasnt too amped up about the double page spread, but ended liking my final, the cover. or at least sort of liking it...anyway here is all of my preliminaries and high res pix of the finals

spring semester 2011 at AAU part 3

ok now time to show alla none ya'll my comic. honestly i dont even like it anymore. my teacher made me hate my own comic. so i know it has a lot of problems and i didnt finish inking one of the pages but whatever. the basic plot of the story, which i made myself, is magneto attacks the city because he is being mind controlled by a hooded figure up on top of the buildings. the x-men, who are in street clothes, defend the little street that they are on. hopefully you can follow

cover with attempt at ink washes

didnt finish the inks

spring 2011 part2

Alright next up from my spring semester in my illustration 2 class was the beast project. we had to render and animal realistically using water color and ink. i might have gone a little overboard with the ink, but i enjoyed using it making the texture and junk. so i am pretty sure this is a leopard...or jaguar. i honestly dont remember, but whatever. so here is step one--

step 2 was obviously the water color. i think i did a pretty decent job...the ground got a little weird though

the next part of the beast project was morphing the beast into our own character. i went with a vietnam war guy, sort of a nick fury/comedian type of leopard jaguar thing. here are the pencils

inks
